Demetris “Al” Alfred is a lifelong St. Louisan who spent 33 years serving his community as a City of St. Louis firefighter. He loves this city and all its neighborhoods: the people, the pride, and the sense of community that makes each one its own.
For more than three decades, Al served them all. His career took him down every street and into every neighborhood, giving him a firsthand understanding of how our city’s needs can change from one block to the next. Every call reinforced his belief that every resident deserves a city government that shows up for them.
26+ years with Rescue Squad 1
Al spent more than 26 years with Rescue Squad 1, responding to emergencies that demanded teamwork, trust, problem-solving, and decisive action under pressure. Today, he continues to serve as president of the State Council of Firefighters, advocating for the brothers and sisters he worked alongside, the next generation of first responders, and the retirees who dedicated their careers to their communities.
Al has been a resident of the 10th Ward of St. Louis for 25 years, where he raised three beautiful children with his wife Stephanie.
For Al, public service is a calling. Running for President of the Board of Aldermen is the next chapter in a lifetime of answering that call.
